Eileen F. ‘Nana’ Collette
LOWELL Eileen F. (Poole) ‘Nana’ Collette, 86, a lifelong Lowell resident and member of the former Sacred Heart Parish, died peacefully Feb 29, 2008 surrounded by her loving family.
Born Nov. 17, 1921, she was the widow of Robert J. Collette who died in 1956 and the daughter of the late John J. and Frances Poole. Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years at the Owl Diner and at Scottie Shoe in Lowell. She will be sorely missed by her family for whom she was the matriarch. She was an avid knitter always making afghans or hats for family members. Prior to her recent illness, she enjoyed playing bingo, loved watching the Red Sox and the New England Patriots, buy mostly enjoyed holidays and family gatherings.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Taylor of Dracut, and Carol Legare and her husband, Sonny, of Lowell; a son, Robert ‘Beau’ Collette of Lowell; six grandchildren, Lisa (Taylor) Montminy and her husband, Michael, of Pelham, NH, Christopher Makiej and his wife, Tarsha of Lowell, Laurie Greenleaf and Jennifer Taylor of Lowell, Kerry Greenleaf of Dracut, and Michael Makiej of Amesbury; six great grandchildren, Sarah Greenleaf, Timothy, Meagan, and Olivia Makiej of Lowell, Taylor Lyn Maille and Ava Grace Ziagos of Lowell. She is also survived by a sister in law, Gladys Collette of Lowell as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Collette was pre-deceased by her daughter, Sheila (Collette) Makiej, her brother, Joseph (John) Poole, her brother in law, Pete Collette, and her son in law, George Taylor.
