Christopher M. 'Gus' Cenik

LOWELL      Christopher M. 'Gus' Cenik, 28, of Lowell, died unexpectedly Friday, November 18, 2011 at Saints Medical Center.

He was born November 28, 1982, in Lowell, and was a son of Ronald and Gail (Cassidy) Cenik both of Lowell. Gus grew up in Lowell and attended the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School with the Class of 2001.

He resided in the Centralville section of the city, and was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Gus was an outstanding athlete all his life, from Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football all through High School. He played football and baseball for Lowell High School and was the Merrimack Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2000. He was also on the 2000 State Champion Lowell American Legion Baseball Team. In addition to being an all around athlete, he loved animals, especially his dog, Lucky, and his special nephew Bubba.

Gus is survived by his best friend and older brother, Stephen Cenik of Lowell; and his cherished younger sister, Julie Cenik of Lowell; his grandparents, Rita Cenik of Harwich, MA and Edward Cenik of Northboro, MA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends, especially his lifelong friend, Sean Callery of Lowell.

He was the grandson of the late Bernard and Anna (Brady) Cassidy.


YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22. ON WEDNESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH AT 11:30 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY. MEMORIALS IN HIS NAME TO THE LOWELL HUMANE SOCIETY, 951 BROADWAY STREET, LOWELL, MA 01854.
