Catherine L. “Cathy” (Modugno) Mendes
HAVERHILL Catherine L. “Cathy” (Modugno) Mendes, 80, a longtime North Andover resident, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 15, 2019 at High Pointe House in Haverhill. She was the widow of Thomas G. Mendes, who passed away 2008 after almost 50 years of marriage.
A daughter of the late Salvatore A. Modugno and the late Katherine (Cragen) Modugno, she was born on January 14, 1939 in Beverly. She was raised and educated in the Beverly/Salem area.
Mrs. Mendes was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her world, there was nothing that meant more to her than family, especially her grandchildren. She also worked at Quic Pic in North Andover for a number of years where she will be remembered fondly by her customers, especially the local police officers whenever they would stop in.
She is survived by her son, Scott Mendes and his wife, Jennifer, of Methuen, her daughter, Laura Mendes of Derry, NH and her grandchildren; Kailey, Alexis and Abigail Mendes. She is also survived by her brother, Arthur Modugno of Beverly, her half sister, Cindy Modugno of Beverly, her half brother, Clint Modugno of Beverly and close family friends; John Nealey of Salem, NH and his wife, the late Sheila Nealey.
In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, the late Barbara Markey.
