Catherine T. Spinney

Loving Mother and Grandmother

LOWELL        Catherine (Dunleavy) Spinney, 83, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Palm Manor Nursing Home after a lenghthy illness.  She was the widow of the late Charles Spinney who passed away in 1973.

     Born March 12, 1926, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late James and the late Nora (McNichols) Dunleavy, and was educated in the local schools.

     She made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church, and a communicant of Holy Family Parish.  When she wasn’t spending time with her family, she volunteered for Community Teamwork Incorporated at the Sacred Heart School. She worked as a payroll clerk for Carroll Shoe for over twenty years before working for the purchasing office at Lowell’s City Hall for six years.

     She is survived by a daughter, Charlene M. Dyson and her husband, Douglas, of Wilmington; a son, Timothy P. Spinney and his wife, Cynthia, of Everett; four grandchildren, Daniel C. Filiatrault and Timothy P. Spinney Jr. and his wife, Carla, all of Lowell, and Patrick C. Spinney and Christopher E. Spinney both of Everett; and several nieces and nephews.

       She was also the sister of the late Rev. James Dunleavy, O.M.I., the late William Dunleavy, the late Francis Dunleavy, the late Anna O’Brien, and the late Mary Thibodeau.

HER FUNERAL AND BURIAL TOOK PLACE PRIVATELY.
