Catherine A. 'Cathy' Burke
LOWELL Catherine A. 'Cathy' Burke, 59, of Lowell, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 30, 2017, after a long illness with her family at her side. For the past thirty five years she shared her life with John Givens, the love of her life and soulmate.
A daughter of the late Patrick Burke and the late Margaret (O'Sullivan) Burke, she was born July 6, 1958, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. She was raised and educated in Lowell, and was a communicant of the former St. Peter's Church.
Cathy was a great Mom, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sons. As an avid lifelong sports fan, she especially loved the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, but her overall favorite sports teams were the ones on which her sons were playing, enjoying both of them growing up playing baseball. In addition she loved animals, going to the beach, camping trips, especially to the White Mountains, and playing the lottery, mainly scratch tickets. Also, she was a great cribbage player.
She worked as the grocery clerk and cashier for Tower News Stand for five years before illness forced her retirement.
Her survivors include her beloved sons, Kyle Burke and Corey Burke both of Lowell; her brothers and sisters, James Burke and his wife, Donna, of Lowell, Vinnie Burke and his wife, Anne, of Delaware, Patricia Burke of Lowell, Kevin Burke of Lowell, and Richard Burke and his wife, Debbie, of Lowell; and John's sister, Mary Mercurio of Texas, her many nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and lifelong friends.
She was also a sister of the late Daniel Burke and the late Maureen Burke, and aunt of the late Patrick Burke. She was also predeceased by John's parents, the late Eugene and Marylou Givens, and John's brother, the late Michael Givens.

HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE TUESDAY VISITATION AT 1 P.M. FOLLOWED BY BURIAL IN ST PATRICK CEMETERY.
