Carmen Chavez

LOWELL       Carmen (Moreira) Chavez, 95, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.   She was the widow of the late Toribio Chavez who passed away in 1962 in Ecuador.

      Born April 12, 1922 in Santa Ana, Ecuador, where she was educated. She was the daughter of the late Juan Moreira and the late Ramona (Sanchez) Moreira.  In March of 1973, she moved to the United States making her home in Watertown, and eventually moved with her family to Lowell where she made her home since the 1980’s.

     Mrs. Chavez worked as a circuit inspector for Altotronics in Burlington for ten years before her retirement in 1986.  She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Lowell and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also an avid reader, soccer fan and most of all she enjoyed cooking for her family.

     She is survived by her children, Salvador Chavez and his wife Santy of Dracut, Edulfo Chavez and his wife Isabel, of Lowell, Zoila Greenlay and her husband Lance of Haverhill,  Ramona Chavez of Lowell, Kleber Chavez, and his wife Jeannette of Lowell; Twelve grandchildren, Sixteen great grandchildren, and her sister Margarita Macias of Boyleston, Anatolia Parraga, of Ecuador,  and Manuel Moreira of Ecuador.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends in the United States, Europe and Ecuador.

      She was the sister of the late Luz Menendez, Jorge Moreira and Cesar Moreira.

           YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 11 A.M. UNTIL 1 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26.   AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. 

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED WEDNESDAY AT 2 P.M. IN ST. PATRICK CHURCH, 285 SUFFOLK ST., LOWELL.   MEMORIALS IN HER NAME MAY BE MADE TO THE NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION, 129 MORGAN AVE, NORWOOD, MA 02062
