Carlos Alberto Amaral

"Beloved Son, Brother and Father"

PEABODY Carlos Alberto Amaral, 51, of Peabody, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He was the beloved son of Maria O. (Amaral) Vitorino and the late Alexandre S. Vitorino and the beloved father of Lucas Andre Amaral.

Born September 15, 1962, in Angola, he moved with his family to Sao Jorge, Azores, Portugal, in 1975. He was also educated in that area. In 1979, the family moved to the United States, making their home in Lowell.

He was a member of the Portuguese American Center in Lowell, and was a former member of the Holy Ghost Society as well as a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. For the past seventeen years, he resided in Peabody.

Carlos enjoyed watching soccer, and was a huge fan of Benfica. He enjoyed traveling, especially returning home to his native Portugal.

He previously worked at Wang Laboratories in the 1980’s and for the past 14 years worked as a chemical technician for Dow Chemical in North Andover.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Lucas Andre Amaral of Peabody; his brothers, Alexandre M. Vitorino and his wife, Maria Alice of Dracut, and Fernando P. Vitorino and his wife, Judy, of Lowell; his sister, Ana R. Prata and her husband, Mario, of Dracut; his girlfriend, Ana Aguiar of Peabody; his nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Tatiana, Mario, Ariana, Alexis, Felicia, Nathan, Serena, and Jordan; his step son, Jeff daFonte; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 14. ON TUESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
