Carlos A. DeSaavedra
LOWELL Carlos A. DeSaavedra, 63, of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, with his family at his side, at Tufts New England Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Martha M. (Murcia) DeSaavedra.
A son of the late Carlos and the late Fausta Vicente, he was born September 22, 1954, in Angola, Africa, and was raised and educated in Lisbon, Portugal. He served with the Portuguese Military during the Angolan War of Independence.
In 1985, he moved to the United States settling in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He worked in the trucking industry for many years before his retirement in 2015.
Besides his loving wife, Martha, he is survived by his step son, Valerio Ormonde and his wife, Kristen, of Lowell; his daughters, Natasha Rosario and her husband, Jose, of Worcester, and Scarlet DeSaavedra of Lowell; his three grandchildren, Gabriella and Natalia both of Worcester and Dean Ormonde of Lowell; his sister, Natersia Vicente of Portugal; and his nephew.
