Edna (Thornton) Caisse
LOWELL Edna (Thornton) Caisse, 78, a longtime Lowell resident, died Sunday, May 20, peacefully with her beloved family by her side. She was the beloved widow of the late Henry W. Caisse to whom she was married for nearly 58 years before his death in February of 2016.
Born August 4, 1939, in Sherbrook, Quebec, Canada she was a daughter of the late Gerald H. W. Thornton and the late Marguerite J. (Quinn) Thornton. She came to the United States at a young age and was raised and educated in Roxbury and Billerica. She graduated from Billerica Memorial High School with the Class of 1957.
Edna’s family was her world, raising 2 children and helping to raise her 3 grandchildren was her life’s work. Spending time at home with her family was what meant the most to her. She also enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, crafts and in earlier years summering at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Caisse and his wife, Michelle, of Hudson, NH; her daugher, Michelle DeVogel and her husband, James, of Littleton; her siblings, Marilyn Kaes of Seattle, WA, Wesley Thornton and his wife, Susan, of Virginia and Laurice Corbitt and her husband, James, of Virginia; her 3 grandchildren, Taylor Marie Caisse, Kerian Elizabeth Caisse and James H. “Jamie” DeVogel; her sisters in law, Henrietta Caisse of Pelham, NH and Rachel Lindberg of New Durham, NH; her dear friend, Donna Tobin of Ayers Cliff, Quebec and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Richard Thornton and close friend of the late Myrna Vaughn.
