Brenda Strong

LOWELL       Brenda (Corriea) Strong, 76, of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, August 19,  2018, after a brief illness.  She was the widow of the late Kendell Strong Sr., who passed away in 2003 to whom she was married for Fifty One years.

     A daughter of the late Joseph and the late Eva (Dysko) Corriea, she was born July 8, 1942, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools.

     She made her home in the Belvidere Section of the City, and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.  Years ago, she worked at the Immaculate Conception School, McDonald's in Tewksbury, and City Hall in Lowell.  She also owned John Gilbert Liquors in Boston.

       Brenda enjoyed time spent with her family especially with her grandchildren.  In her younger days she enjoyed camping.  More recently, dancing and ‘road trips’ were her favorite past time.   She also enjoyed  the Boston Red Sox.  

     Her  survivors include her children, Lynn Vieira and her husband,  Jose “Duarte” of FL, Robin Strong of Lowell, Jackie Strong of Lowell; her grandchildren, Kendell Strong III and Justin Strong who she raised as her own, Amanda Alcorn, David Alcorn, and Brittany Alcorn, Joshua Vieira, Shaun  Vieira, and Anthony Vieira; her great grandchildren, Madison, Joshua, Isabella, Jett, Jacob, Elani, and her ‘little angel’, Elanna Rivera; her sisters, Marilyn Beaulieu of Lowell and Martha Correia of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews.

       She was also the mother of the late Kendell Strong who passed away in 1998; and a sister of the late James Corriea, the late Joseph Corriea, Jr., the late Florence Hunt, the late Robert Corriea, the late Natalie Secchoreli, the late Doreen Corriea; the late Sheila Corriea, and her very special niece, the late Mary Anne ‘Partner’ Hunt..

     Brenda’s family would like thank the staff and doctors at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus, and especially her friend and caretaker, Sandra Pinto, who faithfully took time to care of her every week for eight years.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 8 UNTIL 10 A.M. ON THURSDAY MORNING.  

HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN THURSDAY AT 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. 

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED THURSDAY AT IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 144 EAST MERRIMACK STREET, LOWELL AT 11 A.M..  BURIAL IN ST. MARY CEMETERY.
