Maria L. Bettencourt
LOWELL Maria L. Bettencourt, 78, of Lowell, died Jan 29, 2008 at Fairhaven Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Manuel A. Bettencourt who died in 2002.
Maria was born January 10, 1930, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and came to the United States in 1978 settling in Lowell. She made her home in the Back Central Street neighborhood since 1978. A communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, she was also a member of the Holy Ghost Society, and enjoyed the various feasts and festivals at St. Anthony’s Church as well as at the Holy Ghost Society. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by a grandson, Francisco J. Bettencourt and his wife, Judi, of Pepperell. She was also the mother of the late Francisco Bettencourt.
