Arthur Beaulieu Jr.
LOWELL Arthur Beaulieu Jr., 84, of Lowell, died May 16, 2008 at D’Youville Senior Health Care Center after a brief illness. For 57 years, he was the husband of the late Gertrude (Gurnon) Beaulieu who died Nov. 27, 2005.
A son of the late Arthur Beaulieu Sr. and the late Alice Beaulieu, he was born Sept. 24, 1923, in Chelmsford and educated in the local schools.
Mr. Beaulieu served with the United States Army during World War II with the 720th Engineers Depot Company in Panama. After his honorable discharge, he returned to make his home in Lowell and was a member of the former St. Peter’s Parish and the former Sacred Heart Parish, before being a communicant of Holy Family Parish at Ste. Marie’s Church where he served as an usher for several of their Masses.
Mr. Beaulieu was a gifted union carpenter working throughout the Lowell area, and was most notably involved in the construction of the Hydro Electric Plant at UMass Lowell, and the renovation of the Lowell Memorial Auditorium before his retirement. He was a member of Local #49 Carpenter’s Union Lowell. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed gardening and horses.
He is survived by four children, Sandra Packard and her husband, John, of Misouri City, TX, Eileen Beaulieu of Lowell, Gary Beaulieu and his wife, Ann, of N. Chelmsford, and David Beaulieu and his wife, Annette, of Londonderry; eight grandchildren, Jay Packard, Victoria Packard, and Alex Packard, Nicole Beaulieu, Gary Arthur Beaulieu, and David Beaulieu, Danielle Beaulieu, and Katelyn Beaulieu; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Lorraine Beaulieu and the late Robert Beaulieu.
