MILTON, MA Barry Francis Hayden, 65, of Brighton, MA, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Seasons Hospice House in Milton, MA. He was born in Lowell on May 7, 1952 and was a son of the late John R. Hayden and the late Barbara M. (Smith) Hayden.
He was raised in Lowell where he attended the local schools, graduating from St. Peter’s Grammar School, and Keith Academy, where he played on the tennis team. He then attended the Immaculate Conception Seminary College in New York and became a Franciscan Brother.
Upon returning to Boston, he spent time working with the Brotherhood in various Boston hospitals. It didn't take long for Barry to recognize his calling. He decided to attend Nursing School at Boston College and became a Registered Nurse. For the past 30 years, Barry worked as a psychiatric nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
As a young adult, he moved to Brighton where he made his home for over 40 years.He enjoyed art, particularly Monet, playing tennis and was a diehard Boston sports fan. He also loved traveling, especially his yearly trips to Italy with Bill.
Barry is survived by his best friend of over 40 years, Bill Dell’Orfano of Melrose; and his siblings, Barbara Ware of Sarasota, FL, Brian Hayden and his wife, Beverly of Englewood, FL, Marybeth Hayden of Lowell, Martha Burns and her husband, Arthur of Lowell, Leslie Hayden-Lau and her husband Peter Lau of Lowell, and Susan S. Pereira of Lowell. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Christopher Ware and his wife, Lynne of North Chelmsford, Gregory Ware and his wife, Heidi, of San Francisco, CA, Meredith Ware of Bradenton, FL, Katie Lau of Portland, OR, Alison Lau of Cambridge, and Olivia Pereira of Lowell; and his great nieces, Charlotte, Sadie, Lulu and Sailor.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in law, the late Robert Ware.

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED THURSDAY AT ST. MARGARET CHURCH, 374 STEVENS STREET, LOWELL, AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS,
