Rosaria ‘Rose’ Barros (sorry photo did not transfer well)
TEWKSBURY Rosaria ‘Rose’ (Aguiar) Barros, 90, of Tewksbury, died Jan. 29, 2008 after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Manuel Barros.
A daughter of the late Manuel and the late Justina (Gouveia) Aguiar, she was born Nov. 3 1917, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools.
Mrs. Barros was the operator of the former Barry’s Pastry Shop with her late husband, Manuel, and her family until 2000. She made her home in the Back Central Street neighborhood for many years before residing in Tewsbury for the past thirty years. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and was also a member of the Holy Ghost Society. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and bowling.
She is survived by her son, Manuel F. Barros Jr., of Tewksbury; a sister, Laura DeJesus of Lowell; three grandchildren, Justine Barros of Reading, Manuel F. Barros III and his wife, Beth, of Lowell, and Matthew Barros of Las Vegas; four great grandchildren, Jared, Tristan, Andrew, and Taylor Barros; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Joseph, and Alvaro Gouveia.
