August ‘Gus’ Rodrigues

LOWELL August ‘Gus’ Rodrigues, 89, of Lowell, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Heritage Nursing Care Center, after a brief illness. For sixty seven years, he was the loving husband of Edith M. (Mikalopas) Rodrigues.
A son of the late August and the late Christina (Freitas) Rodrigues, he was born November 15, 1923, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools, attending the Butler Junior High School and graduating from Lowell High School.
Gus was a proud and well respected man. He made his lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. He worked as a road mechanic for the Boston and Maine Railroad for more than forty two years before retiring. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. He will be truly missed by all.
He is survived by his son, Joseph A. Rodrigues and his wife, Lorraine, of Lowell; his grand daughters, Kimberly Laorenza of Salem, NH, and Debra Rufiange of Pelham, NH; his great grandchildren, Krystina Gignac, Robert J. Gignac, Dylan Harriman, and Mitchell Rufiange; his great great grandson, Ashton; his brother in law, John Mikalopas of NY; and his nieces, Rene, Yvonne, and Anona and his nephew, John Jr.
