Arlene J. Colon
LOWELL Arlene J. (Hand) Colon, 47, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Thursday, February 5, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Candido Jerry Colon with whom she was together with for over 20 years.
A daughter of the late Daniel D. and the late Arlene F. (Newcomb) Hand, she was born December 30, 1961, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools.
She made her home in Lowell, and was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church. She had worked as a nurses aid in several area nursing homes and as a housekeeper for many years with her husband before illness forced her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and family get togethers.
In addition to her husband, Jerry, she is survived by her children, Cynthia A. Cashman of Pelham, NH, Melissa Cashman of Dracut, and Michael Cashman of Lowell; three grandchildren; a sister, Susan Toledo and her husband, Luis, of Mildord, NH; brothers, Brian D. Hand and Robert M. Hand both of Lowell; her great friends, Jeanette and Michael Barros of Lowell; her mother in law, Sylvia Colon of Pepperell and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Daniel Hand.
