Argentina G. Teles
LOWELL Argentina G. (Veiga) Teles, 82, of Lowell, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus, after a brief illness with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Isolino Teles, with whom she would have celebrated their Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary this coming May.
A daughter of the late Manuel and the late Cremilde Veiga, she was born January 12, 1933, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and was raised and educated in that area. In August of 1966, she moved with her family to the United States, settling in Lowell's Back Central Street Neighborhood. She was a longtime parishoner of St. Anthony's Church, and was a member of the Portuguese American Senior Center and the Holy Ghost Society.
Argentina cherished time spent with family, and also enjoyed playing cards, especially with her friends at the Senior Center. She also enjoyed crocheting and will be remembered for having a special place in her heart for animals. She worked for the Pleasant Dress Company in Lowell for over eleven years before retiring. Since her retirement she traveled back and forth between Graciosa and Lowell, calling both places home.
Besides her husband, Isolino, she is survived by her children, Elpidio M. Teles and his wife, Maria, of Dracut, and Elisia M. Saab and her husband, Mark, of Lowell; her four grandchildren, Analise Saab and Alana Saab both of Lowell, and Alexander Teles and Christopher Teles both of Dracut; her brother in law, Elpidio Teles and his wife, Palmira, of Lowell; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her dear cousin, Prima Deolinda Cunha.
