Antonio A. Pimentel
LOWELL Antonio A. Pimentel, 84, of Lowell, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus, after a brief illness with his loving wife and family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria O. (Sousa) Pimentel.
Born November 23, 1930, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Jose D Amaral Pimentel and the late Maria Gloria Tavares, and was raised and educated in that area. He worked as a farmer in Sao Miguel before moving with his family to the United States in 1986.
He made his home in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, and was very devoted to Senhor Santo Cristo Dos Milagres. He enjoyed playing cards at the ‘Reds’ Club, the Portuguese American Civic League, where he was a member and enjoyed listening to Portuguese music. He watched the Portuguese Channel, especially Preço é Serto, and also enjoyed scratch tickets, and Hershey's chocolates. Most dear to him was time spent with his wife with whom he celebrated over 60 years of marriage with, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mr. Pimentel worked as a machinist for Old Mother Hubbard for many years prior to his retirement.
In addition to his loving wife, Maria, he is survived by his children, Maria Baltazar and her husband, Joseph, of Lowell, Duarte Pimentel and his wife, Eduarda, of New Bedford, Antonio Pimentel of Sao Miguel, Maria Ferreira and her husband, Joao, of New Bedford, Joao Pimentel and his wife, Adelaide, of Billerica, Maria Carvalho and her husband, Mario, of Lowell, Jose Pimentel and his wife, Teresa, of Lisbon, and Paulo Pimentel and his wife, Nelia, of New Bedford; his many grandchildren; and his two great grandchildren, Abigail R. Brown and Stephen A. Goulakos, Jr..
He was also a brother of the late Maria Jose Pimentel, the late Jose Pimentel, the late Eugenio Pimentel, and the late Joao Pimentel.
Antonio’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Lowell General Hospital at the Saints Campus, especially the staff at the ICU and Intermediate Care Units.
