Antonio M. ‘Tony’ Correia
LOWELL Antonio M. ‘Tony’ Correia, 56, of Lowell, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus, after a long illness.
Born February 7, 1956, in Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel Correia and the late Adelia P. (Pinto) Barata. He lived with his family in Angola until he was seventeen when he moved back to Portugal. Then in the mid 1980’s, he came to the United States settling in Lowell.
Once in Lowell, he worked in the granite industry for seventeen years.
He enjoyed playing and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews with whom he enjoyed watching soccer. He was a supporter of Benfica. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.
He is survived by his siblings, Regina Bento of Portugal; Jack Barata and his wife, Filomena, of Pelham, NH, Clara Capinha and her husband, Antonio Victorino, of Lowell, Paula Bettencourt and her husband, Joe, of Londonderry, NH, and Carlos Corriea of Nashua, NH; his nieces and nephews, Sergio Barata of New Hampshire, Rui Barata of Nashua, NH, Luis Bento of Portugal, Isabel Capinha of Nashua, NH, Neuza Capinha of Lowell, Nena Lapa of Londonderry, NH and Troy Bettencourt of Londonderry, NH; and several great nieces and great nephews.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, AUG. 1. ON THURSDAY HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL AT 9 A.M.. BURIAL IN WESTLAWN II CEMETERY.
