Ann Rita Beattie

PELHAM NH Ann Rita (Fahey) Beattie, 80, of Pelham, NH, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Fairhaven Nursing Home after a brief illness. For Fifty Six years, she was the devoted wife of Graham Beattie whom she married at St. Rita’s Church on May 1, 1954.

A daughter of the late Frederick V. and the late Anna L. (Gill) Fahey, she was born January 30, 1930, in Lowell, and grew up in the Pawtucketville Section of the City. She attended St. Rita's Church and was a member of St. Rita's Cadets. She was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1947, where she was a Major with the Lowell High School Girl Officers. She attended Lowell Commercial College. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Prior to moving to Pelham, Mrs. Beattie lived in Dracut for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church where she taught CCD classes. Mrs. Beattie was a secretary in the Dracut Public School System for 30 years until her retirement in 1993.

Following her retirement Mrs. Beattie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Graham, she is survived by her son, Graham Beattie and his wife, Kathy, of Danville, NH; her daughters, Carol Beattie of Salem, NH, and Maureen Beattie-Waterworth and her husband, Chris Waterworth, of Dracut; her grandchildren, Kelly Beattie-Hand and her husband, Bill, of Danville, NH, Beth Parsons and her husband, Dan, of Manchester, NH, and Matthew Boyd and his wife, Lisa, of Salem, NH; her great granddaughter, Ailie Parsons of Manchester, NH; her sisters, Mary Roark of Chelmsford, and Mildred Gagnon and her husband, Donald, of Lowell; her cousin, Edward ‘Buddy’ Curry of Kentucky; her close family friends, Margaret and Red Tompkins of Tewksbury, and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Frederick Fahey.
