ALZIRA N. PICANCO
Loving Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother

LOWELL Alzira N. (Machado) Picanco, 72, of Lowell, died after a long illness June 27, 2012 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the wife of Jose G. Picanco, for more than 50 years.

Born January 23, 1940, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Jose, and the late Ana (Gil) Machado, she grew up, and was educated in Graciosa. She came to the United States in 1972, first settling in Cambridge. She has resided in Lowell for the past 15 years.

She resided in the Back Central Neighborhood, and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.

Besides her husband, Jose G. Picanco, she is survived by her four children, Maria A. and her husband Jose Silva of Lowell, Jose E. and his wife Wendy Picanco of Lowell, Manuel G. Picanco of Lowell, and Fernando J. and his wife Lisa Picanco of Tewksbury; Her sister Maria Cunha of Rhode Island, and a brother Manuel Machado of Graciosa, Azores. In addition, she is survived by her 9 grandchildren, Kevin Silva, Eric Silva, Kimberly Silva, Joey Picanco, Brian Hall, Kenny Picanco, Kristen Picanco, Emily Picanco, and Ryan Picanco; five great grandchildren, Kailyn, Davien, Kali, Caleb, and Khloe.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HER VISITATION AND FUNERAL ON MONDAY JULY 2, 2012. HER VISITATION WILL BE HELD FROM 7:30 TO 9:30 AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT 10 A.M. AT ST. ANTHONY'S CHURCH ON CENTRAL STREET IN LOWELL. A PROCESSION WILL FOLLOW FOR BURIAL AT WESTLAWN II CEMETERY.
