Alverine E. Eno
LOWELL Alverine E. (Souza) Eno, 98, of Lowell, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Pierre T. Eno.
Born August 29, 1919, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and the late Josephine (Borges) Souza, and was educated in the local schools, including the Butler Junior High School.
She made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Margaret Church. Alverine was very talented and enjoyed all craftwork including knitting, tatting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed writing letters to her pen pals, watching Golf and Horse Racing, and especially enjoyed the Kentucky Derby.
She had worked in the area Mills as an invisible mender for many years and had worked for Laris Market as well. For most of her lifetime, she worked as a seamstress from her home, making and altering countless exquisite items with her steady hands, attention to detail, and endless expertise and talent.
Her survivors include her brothers, Agnel E. Souza of Lowell and Richard Souza and his wife, Deborah, of Lowell; as well as her many nieces, and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and God Children and her close friends Nancy Adams of Billerica and Juliet Geoffrey of Manchester, NH.
She was also the mother of the late Pierre P. Eno, Sr. grandmother of the late Pierre P. Eno, Jr., and sister of the late Estelle Silva, the late Juan Souza, and the late Shirley Burke.
