                                   Alvarina Teles

Of Tewksbury, was called by God to his Kingdom peacefully on Thursday evening August 13th, 2009, at the D’Youville Manor in Lowell after a long illness. She was 84.

Born in the Azores on the Island of Graciosa in 1925, Alvarina immigrated to Lowell in 1971 with her late husband and resided in Tewksbury before moving to nursing care in 2000.

After coming to the United States, she was employed at Parris Shoe in Lowell. She later served as Nanny to three wonderful children, whom she cared for as her own. In her spare time, she loved crocheting, knitting, tending to her plants, cooking, and watching her daily soap operas. She most enjoyed traveling back to Graciosa with her family.

She now joins her beloved husband Raul, her parents Manuel and Olivia Sousa, and brother Manuel DaSilva in eternal peace in heaven.

She is survived by her loving & devoted daughter Liduina “Lee” Teles of Tewksbury, her cherished granddaughter and Godchild Sara Silva, her great grandchildren Zara & Zoah Silva-Landry, her grandson-in-law Greg Landry and his family, her sister Maria Leonilde dos Santos, her close friends David Abreau, Ann & Neil Colicchio and their two sons Neil & Nicky. In addition, she is survived by three sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Her family will remember her contagious laughter.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to the staff and residents of Unit C at D’Youville Manor for the outstanding care, respect and attention they provided to her over the past seven years.

You are invited to her Calling Hours from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 23rd at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, LOWELL (978 or 800) 458-6816. Her Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Anthony’s Church at 9 a.m. on Monday.   Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
