Alice Renee (Marderosian) Manoian
LOWELL Alice Renee (Marderosian) Manoian, 86, of Lowell, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Samuel (Sahag) Manoian.
A daughter of the late Ignatius and Julia Marderosian, she was born on April 17, 1927 in Marseille, France. She grew up in Lawrence and later in Methuen, where she was a graduate of Methuen High School and Boston's Chandler School for Women. Alice then became engaged in a successful career as a local banking professional in Methuen, and later at the Internal Revenue Service.
In 1958 she married Samuel (Sahag) Manoian, they settled in Lowell and began their family with the birth of their children, Susan and Alan. Upon the untimely passing of her husband, Sam in 1974, she carried on with courage and boundless love, raising and guiding her family with confidence, happiness, knowledge and strength. With her circle of dear friends, she passionately lived her life to the fullest with a great appreciation for art, literature, design, history, and especially enjoyed experiencing memorable places.
Alice was a communicant and longtime devoted member of Saints Vartanantz Armenian Church in Chelmsford. She loved her Armenian culture, the New England oceanfront, growing flowers, creating great meals, taking grand countryside auto-tours, and giving to all the people she loved. Her favorite poetic passage she loved to share was from Longfellow - "And the thoughts of youth are long, long thoughts."
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Manoian) Clark and her husband Paul; her son, Alan S. Manoian; her grandson, Benjamin S. Clark; her three nephews, Ara, Daniel, and Dick Tutunjian; and her grandniece and grandnephew, Kara and Damon Tutunjian.
