Aldina S. Mendonca
Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Sister

LOWELL Aldina S. (Sao Jose) Mendonca, 93, of Lowell, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus, with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Serino E. Mendonca.
A daughter of the late Joao A. Belieiro and the late Francisca (Candida) Sao Jose, she was born November 17, 1920, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and was raised and educated in that area. She married and started her family in Graciosa. In 1972, she came to the United States to join her daughter. A communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, her favorite pasttime was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed shopping and knitting. Before illness forced her retirement, she had worked for Commodore Foods.
She is survived by her children, Maria Neto and her husband, Jose, of Lowell, Ondina Silva and her husband, Alziro, of Lowell, Joao Mendonca and his wife, Maria, of Billerica, Maria DeSousa of North Hampton, NH, Alvarina Mendonca and her husband, Eutimio, of Ottawa, CA, Isabel Cunha and her husband, Aurelindo, of Hampton, NH, and Joe Mendonca and his wife, Lucy, of Lowell; twenty four grandchildren; thirty nine great grand children; four great great grandchildren; her sister in law, Maria Mendonca of Graciosa, Azores, Portugal; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Manuel Mendonca and the late Eutimio Mendonca.
Aldina’s family would like to thank the staff of Northwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kind, compassionate care she received while there.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON SUNDAY, MARCH 2. ON MONDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 11 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
