Robert F. Ainsley

LOWELL Robert F. Ainsley, 73, a lifelong Lowell reisdent, died April 14, 2008 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Antoinette (Latessa) Ainsley, with whom he celebrated their 33rd Wedding Anniversary last June 29.
A son of the late Alfred A. and the late Alice A. (White) Ainsley, he was born April 17, 1934, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1952.
Mr. Ainsley grew up and resided in the Pawtucketville Section of the City, and was a communicant of both St. Rita’s Church and St. Margaret's Church. He volunteered with various Pawtucketville Youth Organizations, helping out with the scoring of baseball and basketball games. He loved to attend Lowell Spinners’ Baseball games with his family, and enjoyed being an avid basketball player and fan, as well as a runner.
He formerly worked at Lowell Bridge Tables and Courier Citizen before working part time for the Internal Revenue Service. Most recently he worked in maintenance with the East Campus of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
In addition to his wife, Antoinette, he is survived by three sisters, Gladys St. Jean, Mary Langill, and Ruth Redding all of Lowell; nieces, Patricia LaPlante and her husband, Paul, of Lowell, Donna Murphy and her husband, Robert, of Lowell, Ruthann Kurs and her husband, Carlos, of Dracut and Kristen Murphy of Lowell; nephews, Stephen M. Redding of Lowell Timothy S. Redding of Pelham, NH, and Michael Murphy of Lowell; grandnieces, Alicia Chagnon of Lowell, and Megan Kurs and Emily Kurs both of Dracut; great grand niece Rachel Chagnon of Lowell; grandnephew, Stephen M. Redding Jr. of Lowell; his sister in law, Anne Torrissi of Lowell, nephew Danny Latessa and his wife, Norma, of Lowell; grandnephews, Stephen, Jeffrey and Jonathan Latessa all of Lowell, sister in law, Hilda Latessa of Lowell, and many additional nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews living in New York. He was also the brother of the late Alice P. Briere and the late Arthur J. Ainsley.
HIS CALLING HOURS WERE FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON THURSDAY APRIL 17, 2008. ON FRIDAY, APRIL 18th HIS FUNERAL BEGAN AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WAS OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH AT 9:30 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
