Agnes Brodeur
LOWELL Agnes (Camara) Brodeur, 90, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at D'Youville Senior Care after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Joseph Brodeur who passed away in 2013.
Born in her parents home on March 10, 1926, to Maria De Luz Pacheco Camara and Simao Rogerio Camara. Later in life, Agnes and Joseph bought the family home where she resided until her passing.
Agnes was educated in the Lowell School system and graduated from Lowell High School in June 1943. She was a member of the Lowell High School Girl Officers.
After high school, she worked in the local factories to help with the war efforts. She married Joseph Francis Brodeur shortly after World War II and they started a family together. She held many jobs throughout her married life including CBS Electronics as an inspector, Bon Marche as a sales associate, Raytheon as an inspector, Hub Hosiery as a worker and inspector, Community Teamwork Head Start as a bus monitor and teaching assistant, and as an administrative assistant in the Lowell School System with the Bi-Lingual Program. Through her hard work, the office associates were finally covered by the Massachusetts Employee Union and were finally entitled to a State pension for the first time. After retiring, Agnes was not idle. She assisted in the adult learn to read program. Agnes donated her time to the Merrimack Valley Repertoire Theater. Being civic minded, for years Agnes served as voting Warden at the Lawrence Street Fire Station during elections.
Agnes was an exceptional seamstress, making coats with linings, reversible capes, and hats. She made summer clothing for her grandchildren including bathing suits. She was also a very good knitter, making baby outfits, blankets, hats and mittens.
Agnes was an excellent cook and her children especially liked her chocolate pound cake. She was an avid reader and if she liked the book, she would read it from start to finish in one day. She was a loving mother and became a Girl Scout Leader so that St. Peter’s Grammar School could have a Girl Scout Troop.
She is survived by her children, Maria Talbot and her husband, James, of Mansfield, Joseph D. Brodeur of Lewiston, ME, Dennis C. Brodeur of Lowell, Gail-Ann Brodeur and her husband, Howard W. Martin, of Dracut, Kevin Matthew Brodeur and his wife, Paula, of Merrimack, NH, and Christine Cote and her husband, Joseph William, of Waterford, CT; her grandchildren, James Talbot, Jennifer Lovely, David Brodeur, Deberah Goud, Howard Martin III, Nicole LaBelle, Joshua Burns, Sarah Beth Cote, and Matthew Cote; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary A. Bambrick, Flora Gonsalves, Robert White, Sam Camara, Alfred Camara, and Joaquin Camara.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 30 GRAFTON ST., LOWELL AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
