Adeline Marie Bettencourt
TYNGSBORO Adeline Marie (Bettencourt) Bettencourt, 92, of Tyngsboro, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at her home after a brief illness with her family by her side. She was the wife of Francis J. Bettencourt, with whom she celebrated their Sixty Fourth Wedding Anniversary this past February 10.
A daughter of the late Manuel and the late Mary (Gray) Bettencourt, she was born October 8, 1917, in Methuen. She was raised and educated in Dracut, and made her longtime home in Dracut.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony’s Church before becoming a member of St. Mary Magdalen in Tyngsboro, and was a member of the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxilliary as well as a former member of the Holy Ghost Society. She had worked at Jay Dress in Lowell for many years as an Assorter before working in the Cafeteria at Avco in Wilmington until her retirement in 1979.
Mrs. Bettencourt enjoyed caring for flowers and plants all of her life. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making and mending clothes for her family.
Family was most important to her, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed dinners out with her husband, Frank, especially at Vic’s Waffle House.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith M. Allaby and her husband, Kenneth, of The Villages, FL, and Brenda A. Beaudoin, owner of Beaudoin & Associates Realtors in Dracut, and her husband, Ronald, of Tyngsboro; her five grandchildren, Francis A. Beaudoin of Dracut, Aaron Beaudoin and his wife, Kerri, of Hudson, NH, Renae Allaby and Mike Huettel, of Orlando, FL, Robin L. Kavanaugh and her husband, Brian, of Tewksbury, and Lauren M. Allaby and Justin Kloack, of Lynnfield; her eight great grandchildren, Anthony J. Beaudoin of Dracut, Tyrus M. Beaudoin of Hudson, NH, Kyra L. Kavanaugh of Tewksbury, Joshua M. Beaudoin of Dracut, Nolan P. Kavanaugh of Tewksbury, Brenda R. Beaudoin of Dracut, Calli A. Kavanaugh of Tewksbury, and Owen R. Beaudoin of Hudson, NH; her sister, Jennie Herzer and her husband, Bill, of Lakeworth, FL; the beloved family dog Zoe ‘Joey’ and many nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late Angelina Bettencourt, Frank Bettencourt, Thelma Pure, Manuel Bettencourt, Orlindo Bettencourt, Rose Francisco, and the late Isabelle Hamelin.
