Adelia Barata
LOWELL Adelia (Pinto) Barata, of Lowell, died suddenly, Monday, March 1, 2010, at Lowell General Hospital, after a short illness. She was the widow of the late Manuel Barata Correia who died January 31, 1998.
Born November 20, 1931, in Castelo, Branco, Portugal. She was a daughter of the late Antonio and the late Regina Maria Castanheira. In 1986, she came to the United States, settling in Lowell where she made her home until her death. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing.
She is survived by her children, Regina A. Bento of Lisbon, Portugal, Joaquim P. Barata and his wife, Filomena, of Pelham, NH, Antonio M. Correia of Lowell, Maria Capinha and her husband, Antonio C. Victorino of Lowell, Ana Bettencourt and her husband, Joe, of Londonderry, NH, and J. Carlos Correia and his wife, Christina, of Nashua, NH; her grandchildren, Luis Bento of Portugal, Sergio Barata of Oklahoma, Rui Barata of Nashua, NH, Isabel Capinha of Nashua, NH, Neuza Capinha of Lowell, Nena Lapa of Londonderry, NH, and Troy Bettencourt of Londonderry, NH; a great grand daughter, Daniella Bento of Portugal; and her brothers and sisters in Portugal; and several nieces and nephews.
