Rev. Ermelindo Luna, 70, founder of the Iglesia Arca de Refugio Assembly of Christian Churches in Lowell, died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Antonia (Rodriquez) Luna, with whom he celebrated their Fifty Second Wedding Anniversary this year.
A son of Teodoro Luna and Hipolita Santiago Luna, he was born June 19, 1939, in Comerio, Puerto Rico, and raised in that area. In 1967, he moved to Lowell with his family, and in 1984 founded the Iglesia Arca de Refugio Assembly of Christian Churches Church on Lawrence Street in Lowell.
In addition to his wife, Antonia, he is survived by thirteen children, Roberto Luna and his wife, Gail, of Lowell, Maria M. Luna, and her husband ,Jose Cruz, of Dracut, Carmen M. Luna and her husband, Samuel Gonzalez, of Puerto Rico, Inez M. Luna and her husband, Javier Echevaria, of Dracut, Noberto Luna and his wife, Damaris, of Lowell, Maria A. Luna of Lowell, Hector L. Luna and his wife, Alba Cruz, of Lowell, Jose Charlie Luna and his wife, Jeannette Nieves, of Pelham, NH, Elmelindo Luna Jr. and his wife, Ea, of New York, William Luna and his wife, Claudia Barbalena, of Texas, Abigial Domingez and her husband, Elvin, of Lowell, Joshua Luna and his wife, Samantha, of Lowell, and Joel Luna and his wife, Mildred, of Lowell, thirty six grand children; eighteen great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Armando Luna and his wife, Alma, of Lowell, Carlos Luna of Lowell, Jose A. Luna and his wife, Rosey, of Lowell, Ramona Luna and her husband, Angel Candelaria, of Lowell, Anna D. Luna and her husband, Jesus Cuervas of Dracut, Iris Castalano and her husband, Benjamin, of Springfield, Filiberto Luna of Puerto Rico, Luz Luna of Puerto Rico, Gilberto Luna and his wife, Ana, of Lowell, and Epifanio Luna of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS VISITATION ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY FROM 6 UNTIL 10 P.M. AT THE IGLESIA ARCA DE REFUGIO ASSEMBLY OF CHRISTIAN CHURCHES, 60 LAWRENCE ST., LOWELL.
