Paul W. Champagne
LOWELL - Paul W. Champagne, 59, of Lowell, died after a long illness Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his sister's home in Nashua. He was the former husband of Mary E. Claxton.
Born February 2, 1951, in Lowell, he was a son of the late Paul E., and the late Helen R. (Kane) Champagne, and attended the local schools.
Mr. Champagne served with the United States Army as a specialist 4th class, during the Vietnam War.
He resided in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Rita's Church. A devoted Red Sox fan, he was also an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and Lionel Trains. He enjoyed going out to lunch and dinner with his sister, and was especially fond of his cat, Spanky.
He is survived by a son, Daniel J. Champagne of Somerville; three sisters, Donna M. Champagne of Nashua, NH, Karen R. Hay and her former husband, Scott of Lowell, and Maureen E. Champagne of Lowell; three brothers, Daniel J. Champagne of Nashua, Michael J. Champagne of Lowell, and Timothy D. Champagne and his wife, Patricia of Dracut. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was also the brother of the late Marianne Champagne, and brother in law of the late William J. Galvin.
