Manuel Teotonio DaSilva
LOWELL Manuel Teotonio DaSilva, 75, of Lowell, died March 4, 2008 at Kindred Hospital in Peabody. He was the husband of Albertina Dasilva with whom he celebrated their fifty first wedding anniversary this past September.
Born December 15, 1932, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Teotonio A. and the late Francisca C. (Cunha) DaSilva, and was educated in that area. While in Graciosa he worked in the vineyards before coming to the United States in November 1977.
Mr. DaSilva settled in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the Holy Trinity Society. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He worked as a shoemaker for Carroll, retiring when the business closed.
Besides his wife, Albertina, he is survived by two sons, Floriberto M. DaSilva and his wife, Maria and Juvenal C. DaSilva both of Lowell; a grand daughter, Kelly Cunha and her husband, Marcos, of Lowell; a grandson, Steven M. DaSilva and his wife, Samantha, of Lowell; and a great grand daughter, Melina Cunha of Lowell; a sister and brother in law in Quebec, Canada; a sister in law, Elsa C. DaSilva of Graciosa; two brothers in law, Manuel DaSilva and his wife Maria DeLourdes and Valdemar DaSilva both of Terciera; and many nieces and nephews throughout the United States, Canada, and the Azores.
He was also the brother of the late Olimpio DaSilva and the late Selestino DaSilva, father in law of the late Migdalina Dasilva, and son in law of the late Adalberto DaSilva and Graciomilde DaSilva, brother in law of the late Elvina Cunha DaSilva.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON THURSDAY. ON FRIDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816.
