Aurora ‘Lola’ Scott


LOWELL       Aurora (Peñaflor) Scott, 82, of Lowell, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at her home. She was the widow of the late Lawrence Scott who died in 2008 after twenty six years of marriage. She was also the widow of the late Alfonso Buenpacifico.


Born September 7, 1936, in Manila, Philippines, she was a daughter of the late Marcelo Peñaflor and the late Anna (Tolentino) Peñaflor. She was educated in the Philippines, where she studied pre-medicine at the University of the Philippines, and stenography and business at Polytechnic University of the Philippines.


For the last 11 years, Aurora resided on Market Street in Downtown Lowell, and spent time at the Lowell Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo, hula dancing and taking tai chi classes. She was well known for her love of vibrant fashionable hats. In addition she enjoyed cooking Filipino dishes, as well as camping and traveling with her late husband, Larry. Most of all, she adored time spent with her family, especially with her ‘Apos’ (grandchildren) who called her their 'Lola' (grandmother). She was a devout Catholic and was very spiritual. She attended services regularly at St. Joseph the Worker Shrine in Lowell.


Aurora worked as an Executive Secretary at Harvard Medical School in Cell Biology for many years before her retirement.


Her survivors include her daughter, Teresa Buenpacifico Colena and her husband, Michael, and their children, Nathaniel, Gabriel (residing at college in Utah), and Malaya, all of Hollis, NH; her daughter, Vilma Buenpacifico Pugh and her husband, David, and their son, Andrew, all of Newton, NH. She is also survived by her siblings, Rosario, Remedios, and Paquito; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother, Marcelo Peñaflor, Jr.

ON WEDNESDAY, SEPETMBER 11, YOU ARE INVITED TO HER VISITATION FROM 3 UNTIL 7 P.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.

HER PRIVATE BURIAL WILL BE HELD AT BOURNE NATIONAL CEMETERY.
